DescriptionHelium Systems is an American company which was founded in 2013 to build the world’s first peer-to-peer LoRaWAN wireless IoT network, “The People’s Network”. Helium conceived the LongFi technology that is the combination of LoRaWAN wireless protocol and Helium blockchain. The goal of the Helium network is to create the IoT communication of the future. HNT is a new cryptocurrency Hotspots earn for providing and validating wireless coverage and when devices on the network connect to the Internet through Hotspots. If you intend to start mining you will need a hotspot. There are two ways of getting this hotspot. On the one hand you can bulid your own by buying the hardware and assembling it and using open source software. The second option is to buy one online. There are several types of hotspots available at the moment. Hotspots only use 5W of electricity an hour and provide miles of wireless network coverage for millions of devices around. The yearly electricity costs are around 10 USD.
