This is a concise and comprehensive online course with English subtitles that delivers in-depth understanding of the condition referred to as gender dysphoria in transgender people.
Perhaps you know a transgender or non-binary person that may be struggling with gender dysphoria, or you are simply interested in learning more about the topic. Did you know that a person who experiences gender dysphoria is also likely to have anxiety and depression?
For trans people, gender dysphoria can feel suffocating and distressing because it is directly related to their primary and/or secondary sex characteristics which require medical assistance to begin to change. Medically transitioning is also a lengthy and perhaps expensive process that can be difficult for people to access, leading to more distress.
Gender dysphoria affects many trans and non-binary people, but a trans person does not need to experience dysphoria to be valid.
A lack of support, acceptance, access to medically transition, and gender dysphoria can in some cases lead to suicidal thoughts or attempts.
This course has four goals:
1. EDUCATE
What is a transgender and what must a person do to become transgender?
2. UNCOVER
By asking the right questions, the root cause or root causes of gender dysphoria may be uncovered and adequately dealt with.
3. RESTORE
By understanding what transgenders go through emotionally and physically, family members and friends who had cut ties with them are invited to reconsider their decision and restore the broken relationship. Loved ones can play a major role in preventing suicide.
4. SAVE A LIFE
The ultimate and main goal of this course is to prevent another transgender suicide.
THE VISION
The vision for this course is to create a positive impact and change in a family, a friendship, a work environment, a community, a city and even a country.
