Tolerancing your components appropriately is the simplest way to improve part, assembly or product cost & performance. It is also one of the most overlooked aspects in design engineering. Learning how to confidently assign tolerances and appreciate what impact they'll have on your product will set you apart from your cohort.

This course will teach you 3 different methodologies for conducting a tolerance stack analysis:

- Worst Case scenarios: whereby we utilise the extremes of the component feature size & location to establish the applicable tolerance stack.

- Monte Carlo simulations: where we iterate through a number of pseudo-random scenarios to converge on a mean-value and distribution.

- Root-Sum Squared, RSS: which fundamentally establishes an acceptable ‘part rejection rate’, understanding that the components are rarely going to be manufactured to the extremes of the tolerance band.

During this course, we will step-by-step, work through a real-world example of how to conduct a tolerance analysis, and how to approach it from a fundamental understanding and refine our results to a desired outcome - using all 3 analysis methods.
