This course covers three crucial topics of music that every music student should master in order to comprehend more thoroughly further basics of music theory, for example, I'm confident that this course will help to better understand why we use our current tuning system, why we only are able to hear a specific range of sounds, and why a musical instrument sounds the way it sounds. Researching through several music programs (even from college education) I was amazed by how these topics are often overlooked.

Overall, the first section will cover what sound actually is from a physics perspective, it also includes a definition of acoustics and an explanation of what SPL is and why it is important to understand; the second section is related to our actual physical hearing system that is involved in the complexity of being able to perceive sounds through the human ear, it is divided accordingly as outer, middle, and inner ear. This section also covers the hearing process which goes from the physics phenomena of sound to the psychological effect those sounds has on the human brain; and finally, the last and longer section of the course is dedicated to the most important sound properties: frequency, frequency range, amplitude, cycles and velocity, timbre, envelope, waveform, harmonics, and texture.
