Organic chemistry is a course much feared throughout the undergraduate STEM major world. With a reputation as a killer "weed-out" course among pre-med, pre-dental, engineering, nursing, and graduate-school bound students, a student poised to take the standard two-semester sequence in their sophomore year needs all the help they can get.

I have been teaching and tutoring organic chemistry to these student groups for the past sixteen years, and have been a practicing organic chemist for over 30 years. I have taught the subject with success in large, theatre-style lecture halls at public universities, for small classes at private colleges, to small tutoring groups as well as individual students. I assure you I have seen it all, in terms of all the ways a student can become confused and stressed by this subject....and have developed a "toolkit" of solutions along the way.

In this short course, I distill these thousands of hours of experience as I teach the five essential skills that in my experience are a must for any student about to take their first course in organic chemistry at their college or university. To be clear, I am not purporting to teach organic chemistry in 4+ hours of audio-narrated PowerPoint video lectures!
