DescriptionDrawing faces can be very hard indeed. In this course we get some fun practice on the topic. It's a fun experiment we can use to draw random faces.
Get started by following these instructions:
Generate a random number between 1 and 5
Pick the corresponding basic cranium-shape
Repeat this for all features
Draw in the basic shapes
Add finished lines and add coloring!
There are also 3 extension tasks:
Instead of using a random number generator, use your gut / intuition to pick the basic shapes
Draw two unique faces using the same basic shapes by varying the proportions of the features
Create your own basic shapes.
Not only do we get meaningful practice through these experiments, the course teaches us some interesting things about faces.
First of all we learn just how many faces can be created by a simple combination of some very basic shapes. Each combination results in a unique and interesting face.
Secondly we learn how important the proportions and placement of the features are when it comes to drawing a unique and recognizable face.
Finally we get a lot of practice drawing unique faces, and we will start to learn what makes a each face unique and recognizable, which is an important step when it comes to capturing likeness.
