Modern man is always trying to do the right thing and say the right thing. His mind is always obsessed with these so called markers of maturity. This is true to the point of making his doings and conversation pretty much the sole determiners of a "spiritual man." While these things are an important part of our mystical journey, there is something else that has an equally important place ... silence.

It appears to be the case that in all spiritual disciplines, the marker of spirituality moves from the two aforementioned markers. That is, the presence of silence in the disciple of that discipline, that becomes the primary sign of spirituality. This too lacks balance in our journey.

In this course we will be giving to students of spirituality a renewed perspective on silence as a power charged factor in their daily lives.

The truly spiritual man sees the necessity of silence as an intentional activity. Without it true spirituality will not blossom. The Bible says there is a time to be silent. I imagine that most reading this have never taken the time, let alone daily taken the time, to be silent.

There are certain things that come only with silence. For example God will fight for you while you are silent; the Bible says. It also says that complete silence becomes your wisdom. And much more is said about silence and the connected power.

You will learn a new perspective on spiritual silence. And you will also learn practical ways to enter into that silence.

These practices are recognized around the world. For example, the Native American traditions often talk about the spiritual man entering into silence. In the Chinese traditions it is called entering into tranquility. On the sub continent, it may be seen in the idea of surrender. Among other ways of expressing it, the biblical scriptures give the command to "be still and know." Yes, the Bible teaches that there is a knowing in silence.
