The purpose of the class is to provide insights and openings for action for the coach/leader who is committed to extraordinary effectiveness. Coaching relationships are critical to that effectiveness.

In my 30 plus years of coaching basketball at University of the Pacific (11 years), University of Portland (1 year) and Cabrillo Community College (20 years) no one ever talked to me early in my career about the distinctions covered in this course. In the past 25 years I have been coaching and working to transform the coaching paradigm and much of that work is centered around the content of this course.

The intention here is to provide the student with tools to meet the every day challenges of being the coach/leader and to support that person in making a profound difference in the lives of others. If you have that type of commitment then this is the course you might need.

Each section is designed to create an opening for action. The questions and assignments are to support you getting into action.

The best way to use this course is to take on a new section each week. It will take that to fully do the assignments and answer the questions. This weekly work gives you the opportunity to learn by putting something into practice and learning from the experience.

This concept of one week at a time is embedded in the course and will give you the kind of grasp as to have the concepts become the way you "naturally" do things as a coach/leader.

The intent here is to keep it simple. Life is simple and we humans spend a lot of time and energy keeping it complicated.
