Discover and uncover your "voice" and find your style in the poetic in this course! You will be introduced to poetic forms, techniques, terms, language, and concepts that will help you not only define poetry, but also give your poetry definition. The intent and purpose of Poetic Principles Workshop I is your understanding of, comfortableness with, and creation of poetry in differing styles and forms using various techniques and devices inherent in the genre of poetry (contemporary or otherwise).

Poetic Principles Workshop I is designed to spark, educate, and develop the poet in you and guide you to be COURAGEOUS IN YOUR CREATIVITY!

This workshop is made for the beginner reader and writer of poetry or those at the intermediate level. Truly, the information included in the course can be used throughout your poetic career to freshen up on basics and remember your poetic roots. There are included downloadable materials to refer back to whenever the need hits.

You will evaluate works of poetry in terms of form and/or technique while implementing key terms, devices, and techniques to create original works of poetry. Meter and rhythm, alliteration and consonance, rhymed lyric poetry and narrative free-verse, and more to help you find, nurture, and grow in poetry! Through review and revision, and the absorption of learned ideas, techniques, and devices, you will create seven (7) original works of poetry worthy of your poetry portfolio, of which three (3) will be revised poems closer to publication - all poetry is in revision until published!
