This course is a result of 25 years of consulting project and portfolio management experience, including managing all types of project stakeholders, from junior team members to the C-level executives. We will start this course with a brief overview of the project manager’s responsibilities and the role of the stakeholder management plan in the overall project plan. We will then focus on stakeholder management and its four pillars: identifying stakeholders, planning stakeholder engagement, managing stakeholder engagement and monitoring stakeholder engagement.

Also, the course will discuss how to identify project stakeholders and how to analyze them in order to identify the most important stakeholder groups based on their power and overall interest in the project using Mendelow’s matrix.

We will then focus on different types of management and communications with the four different groups of stakeholders including high power-high interest, high power-low interest, low power-high interest and low power-low interest ones. The course will also discuss the types of questions that could be asked during your project team discussions dedicated to stakeholder categorization.

Finally, we will discuss the step-by-step creation of the stakeholder register based on the examples from a real-life project the author of this course has managed in the past. The steps will include: the creation of the initial table, identifying the management strategies and translating these strategies into actual actions (e.g. include in the Meeting Minutes list, send status reports, invite to project meetings etc.)
