This Five-Part Course on Pancharatna krtis of Tyagaraja - which are arguably the most often rendered songs in Carnatic music - provides students the unique opportunity to learn these masterpieces from Chitravina NRavikiran, who has been hailed by the global media as the Mozart of Indian music. Ravikiran, a performing prodigy from age two is a vocalist, instrumentalist, art educator and composer of international repute who needs no introduction to students and music lovers.
Each part covers an introduction to the song, to the raga, and detailed interactive instruction of the song with live students - many of who are themselves performers - who are repeating each part that is taught by the artist. This enables online students to repeat it along with the students and learn this thoroughly.
The Pancharatna krtis are also among the most maligned creations in many ways as students often overlook the way the words are split or combined and this results in completely altering or negating the meaning intended by the composer. This course highlights such DON'Ts which will enable even those who already know the song to sing it better. Ravikiran also highlights some of the CMCM - Common Mistakes in Carnatic Music - that have crept into these songs as well. Last but not the least, this course includes beautiful sangatis (variations) that are overlooked in popular renditions of these songs right from the opening section of the opening song.
