In this training, you will learn how to license Oracle Database and how to avoid licensing mistakes, which I call licensing pitfalls. The training is designed to introduce to Oracle Database licensing a person who has very little understanding of how to license Oracle Database.
We will review the legal aspects of licensing, see the terminology used by Oracle, learn how to calculate Oracle Database licenses, and discuss the most common licensing errors. I am sure that after this training, you, without outside help, will be able to calculate the required Oracle licenses for your new IT project or how much it will cost you to renew Oracle Support in the next 5 years. You don’t have to be a server room guru to understand the training material. However, I hope you are familiar with concepts such as a server, processor, storage, databases, server instance, failover, disaster recovery, virtualization, containers, and the like. No, no, no technical details. It will be enough if you have a common understanding of these things.

Licensing in a Nutshell. We will review the legal aspects of licensing and learn the definition of 'YOU'.
Oracle Vocabulary. You will learn the concepts and definitions used by Oracle in licensing: metrics, NUPs, Perpetual, Term, Hard/Soft Partitioning, Containers, etc. Oracle uses its own specific terminology and even jargon. Learned knowledge will help you read Oracle documentation and communicate with Oracle Representatives more easily because you will speak the same language.
Oracle Databases <21c. We will discuss the Oracle Database offers up to version 19c. Installations of earlier versions can still be found in use. Therefore, we will learn about them.
Oracle Database 21c. We will discuss the Oracle Database 19c offers. On-Premises and Cloud.
Oracle Database Licenses Calculation. You will learn how Oracle Database licenses are calculated for two metrics in several scenarios.
Oracle Support. We will discuss why Oracle Support is so important, how to handle it and what not to do.
Oracle Database Licensing Pitfalls. This is the part you are probably looking forward to the most. We’ll look at the most common licensing mistakes so you can avoid them in your environment. But to get here, to easily understand these mistakes, you need to learn the training material above.
