Operations management is concerned with managing the resources that create and deliver the products and services which we depend on daily living. The course focuses on how to design, plan, control and improve operations processes and activities with an objective to equip students so that they can make a 2.1 grade and above. There are two unique features of the course. The first one is the tutorial. Exercises are developed from past students’ work and are used to highlight the areas of common mistakes by students and how to avoid them. The second unique feature of the course is the approach. Operations management is presented as a designer’s work which makes it easier to understand and implement. The tools are operations models which are used to develop the conceptions of what is to be done, how it is done, why it is done and where it is done. The selection and application of operations models are taught. The approach has been found to be beneficial by students particularly those students who have little or no industry experience. There are 18 video lectures of 6 hours, one introductory lecture, 17 downloadable resources and revision questions and answers. Students will acquire management skills after completing the course.
