Overview of the research and development of an occupational therapy level IIfieldwork education program. Information provided discusses a needs assessment based on clinical fieldwork educator and level II student experiences, the guiding approach used to create the program curriculum, review of literature, materials used to guide educators instruction and students performance as well as overall experience during 12 week level II rotation. This program development was created specifically off of MDAnderson site objectives, AOTA objectives and acute inpatient level II fieldwork setting for occupational therapy.

Materials and research primarily provided through MDAnderson Cancer Center occupational therapist Asfia Mohammed with program implementation completed by Sabrina DeHerrera.

Discussion over tools used to guide learning and progression of goals and skill set when in a level II fieldwork experience. Utilization of tools to offer communication strategies, self-reflection, address coping skills, identify strengths and areas of weakness and engage in student-initiated learning.

Program is set up to increase the student experience and offer educators realistic and attainable instruction to help foster a nurturing environment for learning and growth.
