Welcome to this course where we will be importing HAP Excel data into Revit and build equipment schedules in Revit.

Let’s have a look at how we did equipment schedules before Revit.

Obviously, we used AutoCAD, HAP and Excel and it was very easy in that we could simply copy and paste the excel spreadsheet into AutoCAD. You could also link AutoCAD and Excel so that if any changes occurred in Excel it would update AutoCAD.

Unfortunately, this is not possible in Revit because you can’t copy and paste it into Revit. The workaround would be to carry on using AutoCAD for equipment schedules and have the rest of the project in Revit.

The problem with that is that it isn’t according to BIM standards. BIM requires us to have all the information in one source.

What if you could link the HAP data to Excel and import this information into Revit. Also, if there were any changes to the equipment, it will update Revit.
