In our day to day delivery of software, there is often a tension between delivering features as fast as possible, and applying ideal principles of clean code. Redesigning our code and making it look perfect is not something we can do everyday.

This course teaches us how we can apply principles of clean code pragmatically without affecting delivery. It helps us learn how to iteratively make our code easier to understand, maintain, and extend.

Interleap has made the Clean Code Online Course in collaboration with ThoughtWorks, and we tapped into their Clean Code expertise to build this course. They've given us feedback every step of the way, making this course easy to learn and effective.

This online course expands on the first problem of Martin Fowler's first book on refactoring. It takes a feature that needs to be added, and teaches participants how to keep cleaning up code as we add features, and eventually that will lead to a much cleaner code base in the long run. This is an expansion of what we learnt about refactoring in the previous session. It helps participants understand the value of balancing refactoring and delivery, how to understand code smells, and how to improve the code bit by bit.

Some of the concepts we learn - Boy Scout Rule, KISS, DRY, Understanding Code smells, Characterisation Tests, Understanding what and when to refactor, SRP, Long Methods, Feature Envy, Inheritance vs Composition, Domain vs Utility Classes.
