DescriptionThis course provides comprehensive treatment of main topics of differential equations and the course is designed to achieve the following goals:
1. To provide in an elementary manner a reasonable understanding of differential equations for students of engineering, physics, and chemistry as well as students of mathematics who are interested in applications of their field.
2. To show the student how to: (a) translate problems into the language of differential equations, i.e., set up mathematical formulations of problems; (b) solve the resulting differential equations subject to given conditions; (c) interpret the solutions obtained.
3. To separate the theory of differential equations from their application so as to give ample attention to each. This is accomplished by treating theory and applications in separate sections and lectures.
